Video: Obama’s Spiritual Advisor Self Professed Marxist Rev. Jim Wallis: “I’m Not a Liberal I’m a Radical”

The New York Times published an article on the pastors to whom Barack Obama has reached out. Having thrown his longtime pastor Jeremiah Wright, Junior under the bus during the campaign, when his radical views became a political problem, he is in need of spiritual counsel or a least cover.

The disturbing point is that of the 5 pastors listed, Jim Wallis is the only one credited with influencing Obama on policy issues.
Why might this be a cause of concern? The New York Times reports:

The pastor in the circle who has known Mr. Obama the longest is Mr. Wallis, president and chief executive of Sojourners, a liberal magazine and movement based in Washington. In contrast to the other four, his contact with the president has been focused more on policy than prayer.

Wallis is a member of the Obama ‘White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives’

” a resource for nonprofits and community organizations, both secular and faith based, looking for ways to make a bigger impact in their communities, learn their obligations under the law, cut through red tape, and make the most of what the federal government has to offer.”

But she wasn’t ever soft …very tough. [She said] ‘So, you were a radical student like me, right? You were a Marxist like me, right?’ [I said] Yeah.”

Interviewer: “Are you then calling for the ‘redistribution of wealth in society?”

Wallis: “Absolutely without any hesitation. That’s what the gospel is all about.”

I’ve had the opportunity to take a look at your Covenant for a New America. It is filled with outstanding policies and prescriptions for much of what ails this country. So I’d like to congratulate you all on the thoughtful presentations you’ve given so far about poverty and justice in America, and for putting fire under the feet of the political leadership here in Washington.

“I believe that democracy demands that the religiously motivated translate their concerns into universal values,” Obama said. “Social justice and national security are both universal values, values that may originate for some in their religious beliefs, but are shared by us all.”

A taste:

A number of the editorial positions taken by Sojourners over the years have come back to haunt Wallis. For example, in parallel with his magazine’s stridently antiwar position during the Seventies, Wallis championed the cause of communism. Forgiving its brutal standard-bearers in Vietnam and Cambodia the most abominable of atrocities, Wallis was unsparing in his execration of American military efforts. For all his rhetoric about the alleged need for greater levels of “social justice” in the U.S., Wallis maintained a willful silence on the subject of the murderous rampages of Cambodia’s Khmer Rouge. Sojourners, for its part, issued no editorials commiserating with the plight of massacred Cambodians. Very much to the contrary, several editorials attempted to exculpate the Khmer Rouge of the charges of genocide, instead shifting blame squarely onto the United States.

Nor was this the most blatant instance of Wallis’ repeated willingness to support pro-communist ideals. As Ronald Nash, a professor at the Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, Florida, noted in his 1996 book on the religious left, Why the Left Is Not Right, Wallis, in the grip of his antiwar fevers, was not above vilifying the victims for the crimes of their Communist oppressors. Following the 1979 refugee crisis in Vietnam, to cite but one instance, Wallis lashed out at the desperate masses fleeing North Vietnam’s communist forces by boat. These refugees, as Wallis saw it, had been “inoculated” by capitalist influences during the war and were absconding “to support their consumer habit in other lands.” Wallis then admonished critics against pointing to the boatpeople to “discredit” the righteousness of Vietnam’s newly victorious Communist regime.

By no means blackening his credentials as a religious leader, Wallis’ presence in the radical antiwar left endeared him to the mainstream news media: In 1979, Time magazine hailed Wallis one of the “50 Faces for America’s Future.” That same year, the journal Mission Tracks published an interview with Wallis, in which the activist evangelical confessed his hope that “more Christians will come to view the world through Marxist eyes.”

Did you ever think you would live to see the day such an anti-American character would be a friend and adviser to a US president? The sad thing is that Wallis is one of a long list. America the last bastion of freedom is being destroyed from within. The White House has been infiltrated by an enemy of the state.

And what would a report of an anti-American marxist be without noting the tie that always binds– George Soros.
