A blog by the name of ‘The Peoria Chronicle’ has the eyewitness account from Paul Wilkinson, president of the Altamont Park Neighborhood Association:
Peorians living in fear
Tonight [June 25th, 2011], around 11 p.m., a group of at least 60-70 African American youth marched down one of the side streets (W. Thrush) to the 4 lane main drag (Sheridan). They were yelling threats to white residents. Things such as we need to kill all the white people around here. They were physically intimidating anyone calling for help from the police. They were surrounding cars. Cars on the main drag had to slam on their brakes to either avoid the youth blocking not only all four lanes, but a large section of the side street as well. fights were breaking out among them. They were rushing residents who looked out their doors, going on to porches, yelling threats to people calling the police for help.
Cars were doing U turns on the streets just to avoid the mob, mostly male. One youth stated his grandfather was white and several assaulted him on the spot. One police officer answered the call. The youth split into two large groups, one heading north, the other south. They were also yelling racial threats to the police officer but he was outnumbered. Another police car did not show up until after the youth finally dispersed and the patty wagon (van) also eventually showed up.
Residents are very shaken, both black and white alike. This is the fifth large mob action in about a month with smaller groups of 10-12 are out threatening children and adults a few evenings a week or later into the night. The times vary, even occuring during the day. In talking to the police officer, they are short staffed. Residents were advised to simply keep inside and to lock their doors. In other words buckle down, it’s not even safe to sit on your porch or go into your yards.

Update 2: Another Peoria blogger Peoria Anti-Pundit reports on the story. He claims to personally know the eyewitness Paul Wilkinson, and vouches for him.

PEORIA–The streets of West Thrush are quiet now.
But two days ago…that was a different story.
“There was quite a few kids coming down the road, probably about 200 of them,” said neighbor Roy Goodwin. “They had traffic blocked. They were in everybody’s yards.”
Goodwin says mobs of teenagers pounded the pavement Friday night, destroying the peace in a once quiet neighborhood.
“They were pretty riled up. Yelling screaming. It was the first time I’ve ever seen that many people congregated together going up and down the street.”
Goodwin’s not the only one.
“I got scared because I have two kids,” said neighbor Shirley Reyes. “I don’t even open my door or what you know. Because it is scary. This is the first time I’ve had this experience for 10 years living here...going on 11.”

Neighbors say mob activity is an ongoing issue for them and the police.“The last few years I’ve never really had to worry about anything,” said neighbor Penny Lyons. “This summer, all of a sudden it’s like boom. Kids everywhere.” >>>

Update 5: Another local news confirmation: Central Illinois News Center -WEEK News 25, an ABC affiliate.
The neighborhood association president, Paul Wilkinson, says they were making threats and yelling quote kill the white people, end quote.
Wilkinson says this is the fifth mob action in the neighborhood this month, but by far the largest.
He says residents are worried for their safety and for their homes.
“We’ve had people beating up on each other, and making threats toward each other, but not towards other people or bystanders, things like that. And there’s been no other indication of any inappropriate racial comments until this incident,” said Wilkinson.”
Wilkinson credits the police as being helpful and responsive.
Saturday morning, police placed one of the nuisance abatement vehicles at the coroner [sic] of Thrush and Sheridan to try to quiet the area down.

The sad part of this is the fact that the media and police will not report it as a group of black youths or whatever. It will be the “alleged” gang or some other politically correct bullshit1 There are videos of black gangs in Chicago attacking people yet it is being reported as roaming gangs rather than black roaming gangs! The hell with the fact that a picture is worth a thousand words. Haven’t seen any remarks yet from our racist attorney general on this. And what about Jesse!? He’s a Chicagoan. He sure as hell isn’t condemning these actions by these black (video proves it PC morons!) thugs!
While I am loathe to defend *anything* related to the mainstream media, Eric Holder or this administration in general, I wonder why it would be necessary to describe the gangs in the manner you would like to see. Is it more sinister if we describe them as “black gangs” rather than just “gangs?” More interesting? More titillating? Is there a greater sense of urgency attached to reports of gangs when ethnicity is included in their description? Do you want all groups to be subject to this kind of description, or are we to limit that to minorities in general and blacks in particular?
Well the eyewitness report is not available. Some one doesnt like the story, or it’s just a technical problem. Time will tell

This doesn’t surprise me a bit, ever since their “messiah” got elected to public office, in the Socialist State of Illinois, it’s probably been hell. There’s no living with the Blacks anywhere, if you dare to differ with them! Everything that’s wrong with their lives is your fault. These youth are the byproduct of a failed ethos where the adults play the “blame game,” and peg all white people, as the reason for their lack of upward mobility in life. Instead of taking ownership of their problems and looking in the mirror at the true source of all of their problems. I am loathe to suggest this, but, personally I am not very big on calling upon the authorities, I believe in the second amendment, and it’s not because to keep the right to hunt or target shoot. IT’s to defend against just such scum as this from threatening life and limb, and the public peace.
Really? So it’s a good idea to promote the killing of people who disrupt the peace? By anyone who owns a gun? Do I get to shoot them if they interrupt my afternoon nap, or do I have to look for a bigger reason?

Roger that Daniel. Anyone who owns a gun has an obligation to know the laws and to know how to use the gun. To do any less is inviting a lawsuit which you will lose.
Actually, our laws in Illinois regarding guns are *beyond* crap — really, the worst in the nation. Even after having the unconstitutional anti-gun law struck down, its tremendously difficult to obtain and keep a gun here in Chicago, at least for the people who are trying to do it the *right* way.
What are the blacks going to do about the increasing hispanic population? What make them think they will live with the hispanics in peace and harmony? Don’t they know what is going on in South Central L.A.? But instead they focusing their attention on the White Race when they slowly destroying themselves. The black population is dropping and I don’t see je$$e jack$on and al $harpton doing anything about it.
I grew up in a neighborhood where harassment from violent black racists was an every day occurrence. Nobody cared, The cops wouldn’t do a damned thing and the brutality never made the news, because it is taboo to openly speak out about violent black racists. You’re “racist” if you tell the truth. And this stuff started happening in the 70s where I grew up, now the rest of America gets to see for themselves what people told me was just in my imagination.
I grew up on Long Island, one would think that cars being firebombed outside of people’s houses was newsworthy, but nope, not at all.
I’ll be telling my story over at my place later, including things that I generally do not like to talk about because they are painful to remember, but the silence needs to be broken. Zilla, I grew up in Philly during the 70′s and my story is very similar to yours. Battles with black flash mobs were on a weekly basis especially when I was coming home from Hallahan High School. They not only attacked teenage White and Puerto Rican girls with bats and belts but they also attack babies in their playpens, too. (yes, back then moms actually left babies in their playpens outside). they were evil then and they are evil now. Nothing has changed except the increase in their level of arrogance since the election of Obama. Back then, I was told by my teachers, blacks were full of anger because of racism and poverty.Now I know the truth- its all about black man culture. unfortunately, white liberals protect their black brothers to the death( as long as the black brothers don’t live next door). I have reached a point where I am forced to carry a gun when I go into Philly. its really shameful to see the decline of a great American city.
Story dropped from Drudge. Unless you believe Obama got to Drudge… it looks like there was no story. Just a bunch of local bloggers who took a story of kids whooping it up on a Friday night (with no reports of violence or property damage… nor any credible reports of racial encitement) and turned it into a story about black mobs hunting down whites.
Drudge was smart to drop this non-story before it damages his credibility.
I beleive the pres has so divided this country back into the 1960′s he is a racist, and has provin that time and time again. When are you people going to wake up!
We are living in a land where we have very few rights or protections anymore. The President and attorney general do not care about this lawlessness. Whitey is just gettin what he deserves. We are occupied and ruled by the ignorant few.

I’m not a racist. Period. I have no problem with the color of somebody’s skin. I DO have a problem with the color of their soul’s. We live in this Peacy society where we no longer really have so called “freedom of speech”. I’m sick of it and over it. No More! I promise if this was a group of white people, it would be called a white mob. Ya know, I don’t have any slaves, nor did my ancestors. We as a community have failed our children by placing our trust and hopes in idiots like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. Rather than putting faith in our own abilities, a number (I refuse to say majority) of us have decided that we as a community are owed by all for transgressions that did not occur in the majority of our life times. It is truly sad that the 21st century is being marked not by the advancement of United States society as a whole, but by the degradation of our society based upon both class and racial lines.
I was raised to believe in my own potential, and to strive to achieve–regardless of the obstacles put in my way. From an early age I was taught that because of the color of my skin I would have to work twice as hard as others because the assumption would always be that I was lazier and less gifted than those around me, and that it would only be through a preponderance of superior results that I would be able to mitigate that perception. Unfortunately, it would appear that not only was my raising not the norm amongst the Black community, but this methodology of raising children is now nearly non-existent.
All that I can say is do not judge us all based upon the actions of the idiots that claim the lion’s share of the news services. And for those that refuse to move beyond a welfare mentality, well, you reap what you sow…

This type of behavior has been going on for at least 7 decades. My father was born in East St. Louis. The stories he told make these recent events pale in comparison. One story he told me about was a case where two cars both occupied by black youth sandwiched a car containing several whites at a stop light. They got out of their cars, broke out the windows of sandwiched car’s, doused the interior and it’s white occupants with gasoline and set them ablaze. The only reason for this heinous act was that the victims were white. A lot of bad stuff happens in East St. Louis but the majority of the crimes are black on black. There are few whites that reside in East St. Louis today. There are many good people in East St. Louis risking their lives trying to make a difference and provide young black youth a safe zone. Not long ago a read a story about a young black minister who has setup a youth center for kids to go after school and during the summer to provide an escape from the dangers on the streets. He told a story about the day he took the group on a field trip out of E.St. Louis. Not on single child on the bus had ever been outside of their city. He spoke about their wide-eyed observance of everything they saw. Most of the things many Americans take for granted and are just common everyday things that exist in our neighborhoods were things these children had never seen and stared at with awe. I wish I could remember some of the examples they stated in the article. It was mind boggling. A few examples, rows of buildings with no graffiti, bridges with no graffiti, parks and playgrounds that had actual intact playground equipment, street corners vacant of any drug dealers, movie theaters, roadsides landscaped with trees and ornamental shrubs. These things, even as young teens, they were witnessing for the first time. Most of the children from this inner city have been abused, come from homes with no father or father figure, most of the grownups in their lives are either drug addicts or drug dealers, poor schools where few good teachers are willing to risk their life to teach and where discipline doesn’t exist. As the minister pointed out, the odds are so stacked against children born into this environment that less than 2 percent will ever escape from it. They understand this. When you have an 11 yo who has no hope for their future, reality is a six square mile area they have never ventured beyond and a drug dealer donned with bling offers him $200 cash to take a package to someone 2 miles away what do you think that 11 yo will do? There is no one there offering this kid any other option. He doesn’t even know options exist. That POS drug dealer, who most likely was once himself that innocent 11 yo, has just robbed our society of a potential upstanding productive adult who contributes to our society. The majority of children are not born thugs who terrorize the community. They are born into an environment of thugs and criminals and by not intervening early and often into their lives, instead leaving them for the wolves, everyone living in demographics of our society with means and resources but take no action can be tagged with failing these kids. Children whose only fault is being born into a third world country smack dab in America’s heartland. Just something to think about. If the resources exhausted in Iraq had instead been directed toward the Peoria’s in our country what would they look like right now? How many children’s lives would be set on a positive course?
