DALLAS (CBS 11 NEWS) – A source within the Dallas Police Department who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing investigation said the girl ran away from home in Garland last month and that she is now refusing to cooperate with investigators. She initially told officers that she had sex with a man in his early twenties and had engaged in sexual activity with several other people.
She may have been threatened by the occupiers to keep quiet. IE: Bad PR.
I hope the police investigate that angle.
Some members of the group told CBS 11 the girl identified herself as a 19-year-old and never knew she was 14.
Oh, so it is the girls fault…typical… And may be a lie.
One Occupy Dallas protestor said if the allegations are true measures should be taken to ensure everyone’s safety.
“We’ll find out what the truth is and if that’s her story, that she was having sex with older men in the park, I guess we really need to watch the age group that’s coming in here and get control of that,” protestor Rich Coffman said.
Ya think? Like I said, OWS communes are a recipe for disaster.
Occupy Dallas organizers said they’ll implement a 10 p.m. curfew and check the identification of anyone seen walking the grounds after that time.

DPD: Man Guilty of One Sexual Assault Responsible For Another at Occupy Dallas Site
One week ago we got Occupy Dallas’s side of the story concerning the sexual assault that took place at its encampment behind Dallas City Hall. Today, we get the official version from the Dallas Police Department, which is reporting that it has arrested Richard Wayne Armstrong, a 24-year-old “non-compliant registered sex offender,” for the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl in late October.
According to DPD, which issued its statement via Facebook in advance of a 4 p.m. press conference, the victim was a runaway from her home in Garland; she was picked up at the camp last week and taken to DPD headquarters after they received a tip that she matched the description of the runaway. She was interviewed by Youth Section detectives, and told them that she had sex with the man in a tent at the encampment; she also said she told the man she was 19. Armstrong was identified as the suspect after an investigation by the Child Exploitation Squad.
According to DPD, Armstrong, who presently sits in Dallas County Jail on $200,000 bond, has been charged with two felony counts: failure to register as a sex offender and sexual assault of a child….

Moments ago, we received an email from an Occupy Dallas member who said he didn’t know if the girl had arrived at the camp with her assailant or had met him there. “Everything I’ve heard from camp is that she arrived with a man the day before she was arrested,” our source wrote. “If he is guilty of this, he deserves everything that’s coming to him. Truly disgusting.I hate that it’s important to me, but I hope we can distinguish if she met him at Occupy Dallas or came to camp with him. I hope she gets the help she needs, regardless. What a horrible thing to go through.”

Wait a minute, if they catch you walking around after the 10PM curfew they implemented ( with no legal authority I might add ) they are going to ask you for ID. Really, so I’m walking around minding my own business on public property and your going to tell me to show my ID to you ( with no legal authority I might add ), ROTFLMAO .. lets see you try that shall we. Rory makes a good point I almost missed: Liberals don’t like ID checks, but they’re going to institute them. This is a great example of how mob rule functions. In a functioning government of any type, issues are at least somewhat filtered through some sort of governance. In OWS we see that any action is acceptable if they are the power center. Zero governance.

The Occupy Dallas folks worked with the police in identifying the perpetrator and getting him out of the camp. Criminals have no place, even if the crime here is one of not making sure of the age of who he was engaging in activity with. Attempts to smear Occupy Dallas when they actually helped police identify the girl when they were looking for her, as well as identifying the perpetrator when he was sought out is pretty sad.
Listen, it’s cool if you don’t agree with what the Occupy Dallas folks are out there standing for. That’s your right and should be respected. Outright lying and playing a shell game with facts to make the story sound different from reality just reflects poorly on your ethical compass, not that of Occupy Dallas.
You can not see the forest for the trees. The horse has ran out. No use trying to close the barn door now. It is to late.
To blame, is the entire OWS movement. The movements open door, come one, come all –policy is at fault.
To think that such incidents were never considered, when you all chose to sleep out in the open in the middle of US cities, is telling indeed.
Seriously, what were you thinking?! The environment you have created, make the vulnerable among you easy prey. What if a child is harmed???? What will be your excuse then?
