Dem Rep David Wu Resigns Amid Sex Scandal

On July 26, 2011, in news, by velvethammer

Another scandalous Democrat’s political career bites the dust…

(The Oregonian) –Washington — Rep. David Wu announced his resignation from Congress today, moments after U.S. senators Jeff Merkely and Ron Wyden called for his resignation.

The Democratic  said in a statement that he would leave office after Congress resolves the debt ceiling crisis.

“With great sadness, I therefore intend to resign effective upon the resolution of the debt ceiling crisis. This is the right decision for my family, the institution of the House, and my colleagues.”

The Oregonian reported on Friday that Wu had been accused of an unwanted sexual encounter with the 18-year-old daughter of a childhood friend. The incident occurred in Orange County last year.

Wu’s announcement came only minutes after Oregon’s two Democratic senators – Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley – called on him to resign, saying the embattled lawmaker had lost his ability to effectively serve in the wake of accusations of improper sexual conduct that “are both jarring and exceptionally serious.”

Donald Trump Slams “Evil” Bush, Praises Obama – November 2008

(NY1) If there’s one thing certain about real estate mogul Donald Trump, it’s that he likes to win… even though he endorsed John McCain for president.

“McCain, really, that was almost an impossible situation,” said Trump. Bush has been so bad, maybe the worst president in the history of this country. He has been so incompetent, so bad, so evil that I don’t think any Republican could have won.”

On point with a major left-wing Bush talking point.

During an exclusive interview with NY1 in his Midtown office on Fifth Avenue, Trump slammed President George Bush’s foreign policies.

“You know, you can be enemies with people, whether it’s Iran, Iraq, or anyplace else and you can still have dialogue. These people wouldn’t even talk with him. It’s terrible,” said Trump.

Dialogue with the maniacal disturbed Ahmadinejad and the genocidal psycho Saddam Hussein?? Echoes of Obama. Bush could of dialogued with Saddam and Ajad til he was blue in the face and it would of changed –NOTHING.

While he had harsh words for the outgoing president, he had a much different opinion of President-elect Barack Obama.

I think he has a chance to go down as a great president. Now, if he’s not a great president, this country is in serious trouble,” said Trump.

I think [Obama's] going to lead through consensus,” continued Trump. “It’s not going to be just a bull run like Bush did. He just did whatever the hell he wanted. He’d go into a country, attack Iraq, which had nothing to do with the World Trade Center and just do it because he wanted to do it.”

Pretty dull instincts for someone who is considering a (conservative) presidential run. Apparently Trump was not paying attention during the 2008 campaign. Obama was exposed on so many levels yet Trump thought he  had the potential to be a great president?? That he would lead by consensus?? Was he that blind, deaf and dumb? Was he living under a rock?

More Trump leftist mindset regarding Bush impeachment from a CNN article dated October, 15 2008:

(CNN) – Business mogul Donald Trump told CNN Wednesday House Speaker Nancy Pelosi should have sought to impeach President Bush when she had the chance.

In an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, Trump said the president and his administration deliberately lied about the Iraq war, and congressional Democrats missed an opportunity to impeach him when the party took control of Congress in 2006.

“I was surprised that she didn’t do more in terms of Bush and going after Bush,” Trump said. “It was almost – it just seemed like she was going to really look to impeach Bush and get him out of office, which personally I think would have been a wonderful thing.”
……
“He lied. He got us into the war with lies,” Trump said. And I mean – look at the trouble Bill Clinton got into with something that was totally unimportant. And they tried to impeach him, which was nonsense. And yet Bush got us into this horrible war with lies, by lying, by saying they had weapons of mass destruction, by saying all sorts of things that turned out not to be true.”

Pro- ‘universal health care’ Trump:

I’m a conservative on most issues but a liberal on health. It is an unacceptable but accurate fact that the number of uninsured Americans has risen to 42 million. Working out detailed plans will take time. But the goal should be clear: Our people are our greatest asset. We must take care of our own. We must have universal healthcare.

Our objective [should be] to make reforms for the moment and, longer term, to find an equivalent of the single-payer plan that is affordable, well-administered, and provides freedom of choice. Possible? The good news is, yes. There is already a system in place-the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program-that can act as a guide for all healthcare reform. It operates through a centralized agency that offers considerable range of choice. While this is a government program, it is also very much market-based. It allows 620 private insurance companies to compete for this market. Once a year participants can choose from plans which vary in benefits and costs.

H/T RIGHT SPEAK

I find Trump’s statements to be quite troubling.

Present day potential presidential candidate Trump is now trumpeting conservative talking points like a robot. Rapid fire. Boom, boom, boom. Seemingly, methodical, systematic.

My instincts tell me to be very wary of Trump…

Mark Levin ties all the above together and more:

Sound the Trumpet” at Legal Insurrection

There’s not much I can add to Mark Levin’s explanation of why Donald Trump does not represent the conservative or Tea Party movements.  He wasn’t there when we needed him, and he helped those who were against us.

If we insist that Obama’s past record speaks for itself, shouldn’t we use the same litmus test against Trump? To do otherwise would be intellectually dishonest.

Update:

Thank God, Trump has announced he has no plans to run for president.

Told ya.

Donald Trump squandered untold political oxygen exploiting the Tea Party while backing government bailouts, Obamacare, the porkulus, and wealth/property redistribution.

The Donald made a mockery of our Presidential election. He should be ashamed, though I doubt that he is.

Plus he fired my favorite, Little John from Celebrity Apprentice last night.

“Caustic”? Moran’s personal version of spitting on our Troops.

Rep. Jim Moran (D-VA) held a town hall meeting on April 7 about the possibility of a government shutdown. The video speaks for itself. Moran starts screaming at 4:10. (Sorry for the poor quality of the video – the camera doesn’t work well in low light!) Check out our other videos from the meeting and our website – http://www.retirejimmoran.com

The veteran served his country for 27 years and this is the thanks he gets?

If any video deserves to become viral, this one does.

You know the drill rate it, share it, fav it –now.

Update: Obama gets his licks in while holding our Military hostage.

Funding Our Troops Is A Distraction?

Commander-in-Chief Turns His Back on America’s Military

Yesterday, as efforts to resolve the debate on 2011 government funding continued, House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) introduced yet another temporary bill designed to keep the government operating for one more week during negotiations, and in this case, ensure the military portion of the budget is appropriated to eliminate the economic uncertainty facing our troops.

Before a vote was even taken, President Obama issued a Statement of Administration Policy that offered no policy, and merely called Speaker Boehner’s efforts a “distraction”, with the promise to veto the legislation. In fact, Speaker Boehner’s goal was to aid our armed forces by removing the distraction of a looming government shutdown for our troops. The House went on to pass the bill 247-181 with 15 Democrats joining nearly all Republicans.
……
United States military personnel are actively supporting the Libyan rebellion.  Navy sailors and Marines are providing humanitarian relief to our ally Japan.  American soldiers are still working to rebuild Iraq often in hostile conditions.  They are engaged in active combat in Afghanistan.  Some are being wounded daily; some maimed; some even killed.  Others are doing their jobs around the globe keeping sea lanes open, on patrol, standing a post, and training for whatever conflicts lie ahead.  Yet incredibly, their Commander-in-Chief vows to veto their paychecks.

Great job patriots! The video view count went from 32,794 this afternoon to 563, 589 this evening. It was just posted to YouTube yesterday, April 7, 2011.

View count noon today: 84,931. 84,931 in 2-3 days time. Excellent.

It is particularly chilling hearing such disturbing thoughts after the horrid tragedy that occurred this past weekend in Tuscon, Arizona.

American lives, mere collateral damage in Obama’s fight to reconnect with Americans in the wake of the midterms shellacking. Good God.

MARK PENN: Cabinets don’t really sell things. The President himself has to reconnect with the people. Remember, President Clinton reconnected through Oklahoma, right?…

CHRIS MATTHEWS: Yeah, because of the bombing down there…

MARK PENN: …And President right now, he seems removed. It wasn’t until that speech that he really clicked with the American public. Obama needs a similar kind of happening.

CHRIS MATTHEWS: You think words are enough for Obama at this point?

MARK PENN: No. He’s gotta get some results. But words will work, I think, if he finds that right moment.

And Matthews does not blink an eye…
